The Snowdon Cafe has finally been demolished. As we led a group up towards the summit, our views were even larger than usual, where once the cafe stood, we could now look over south to Moel Hebog. The building site barriers looked strange on the summit. Prince Charles called it the "highest slum in Wales". To the team at Seren Ventures, it was a not great transport cafe. Whilst it's popular to put it down, we have memories of at times much needed shelter for us and clients over the last two years. In it's place will start . . . (More . . .)
Built in the 14th century, St Michael's Church is the oldest building in Betws-y-Coed, and is located on the banks of the River Conwy. Replaced by the parish church of St Mary's in 1873, St Michael's lay slumbering peacefully throughout the twentieth century. But by the early 1990's it was in a sorry state, with a leaking roof and associated plaster damage and it was urgently in need of repair work.
In 1994, the Friends of St Michael’s was formed, to raise both awareness of the building, and money to preserve it. Declared redundant in 2000, the building is now . . . (More . . .)
The Ramblers Association is urging everyone to get involved with the biggest ever walking project in the U.K. The objective of the challenge is for all the public rights of way in England and Wales to be walked and recorded.
As individuals or as part of a group, participants are being asked to choose a grid square or squares and simply walk all the public rights of Way in the chosen area. Then go to the website (www.useyourpaths.info) and report what squares you've covered including any problems you've come across such as obstructions, missing signposts etc. These details are passed on to . . .
